What would YOU change?

OK folks, this is for ‘fun’ rather then a grade.  Now that you have studied the set up of our government - if you were in charge, what would you change about our government?  Don’t forget to explain to us why your idea is so desperately needed!

Personally, I think that our government should be changed so nthat the Jews can rule America with our backhanded business and manipulative economics. Control over an infulential country like America will be a perfect launch-pad so we can RULE THE WORLD!!!!!! Not really.
I do believe that our state governments should wield more of the control in terms of education. It is my feeling that our Federal government cannot possibly account for the needs of every student in the nation, nor can it predict the sweeping effects the bills it writes, such as NCLB (i.e. No Child Left Behind,) will have on its constituency. Though they are fairly effective in serving most of our other needs, recent years have not seen our government be very helpful to the education system.

Honestly, I just want the government to stop acting so sure of itself. So, we’ve been around for a few hundred years. In the grand scheme of things, that’s nothing. It doesn’t mean that we can’t still fall apart. (I know, I have so much national pride…) But, seriously, does anyone have any real trust in the government at all? Think of all of the disasters that could have been avoided if not for the stubbornness, and ignorance, of our politicians. If they had taken care of there responsibility to fix the dams in New Orleans, which they knew were in horrible condition, then so many people wouldn’t have had to loose their lives. (and I’m not just talking about death, I’m talking about those who lost their homes, their families, and everything they ever had.)

I also want to start an anti-negative campaigning act. (Is that a double negative?) And require that most, if not all, commercials advertising various politicians had to sell their good sides, rather then than trash their opponents.

Sorry, got off on a bit of a rant there, huh?

(Guess that’s not so much about the government, is it? It’s more about the people in the government… oh well…)

I think that our government should have a both parties represented like how it used to be. Jefferson had a federalists vice-president, and although that could start trouble…Jefferson was a great president, and a lot did get accomplished. I am not sure the last few elections would have worked out wonderfully what with Bush being the president and Kerry and Algore being the vice presidents. I think trouble would have been started, but i think that these two opposing parties should spend less time opposing eachother and trying to make America a great country to live in, as that idealogy has gone by the wayside in the past 8 years.

GEORGE BUSH… that is all i have to say…my reason being that i would want to be president, even if I am only 16. I see it as if I am learning about the government right now, why wait until i am 35.

Well my comment prior to the one before. I think we just might have a black president. And no fellow classmates it is not me. But that dude Oboma might just make the cut. It’s to bad that our nation revolves around crime, race, and sex. Like I think Hillary Clinton would fine inside of that building which is all white..She is a Clinton who cares if she is a female. What dose it matter. I think i should be like Mrs.Eaakin and say forget politics. They do nothing but sell ther souls. And ussaly make things bigger than what the ussally are. I think there all a bunch of grade schoolers. You Know!!! The type thats like ..”no i was in front of you, no you werenot its my turn” haha Memeber guys being a line leader in elementy school..HahahahHhah Shout to Perios five…and Patricia Beatrix-Elener Basco…

I have to agree with Becca on this one. Beacause the country is always so one-sided and you never know what side it will be on after the next election. I think that if our government executives were from two different parties, then we would have a more balanced counrty. If you think about it, it could make so many more people happy. They could have the best of both worlds with one democrat and one republican in office at the same time. The views of both halves of the country would be brought to the table and that would lead to less problems in everything the government has to deal with in this country.

Well, if I ruled the government, I would take away my powers. Yes, the checks and balances of the three branches works pretty well, but I would add to that. The presidency should be a council of five diverse people, not just one person. That way we would have intelligent people of different beliefs, virtues and backgrounds all working together to come to one conclusion. And since people in general see the president as their voice instead of their senators and representatives, they will feel like they have a person with power working for the better of them. Thus making everyone feel better and have more faith in the government. And since it is adding it to a government that has already proven itself to work without imploding, there aren’t too many down points.

Sure, I am aware of all the problems this brings up, but it would at least be a step ahead. And I fully understand my idea sounds a lot like a presidential cabinet, but they would all have equal power and they would still have a cabinet for extra opinions and such.

Also, I would make our country more defensive and, if need be, less offensive. Once we have established total safety on homeland soil, we will not only have huge morale boosts, but we will be able to pay attention to affairs outside of the US easier.

That is all for now. :P

    no wars. no money.

my government wouldn’t be very strong, but for the three minutes that it existed it would be the way the whole world should be.

if the un really worked…. maybe this world would be a better place.

im not for this border stuff. lets all be one world with a couple rules like in kindergarten, dont take whats not yours, dont lie, dont hit, whatever.

everything big relates to everything small and vice versa right?? thats the way it should be. you run your country the way you’d run a family. you care about everyone.

i really think that we should just make the houses and people and everything but the natural resources smaller. that would save all that water and air and tree space and everything, how much could we ruin if we were the size of ants?

me and my (evil) shrink ray will never get anywhere so ill just vote thanks.

If I were to change the way the government worked, I would first slowly pull troops out of every country except our own. It’s better to play defense during times of conflict and times of alleged peace. I would give more power to the businesses and allow people to have unrestricted rights to what do what they want to do with the land and things they buy. No residential properties. No commercial properties and nothing in between. Just freedom. Less restrictions. More opportunities. Happier People.

    NO ABORTIONS!!!!

i wasnt thinking that when i posted last.

abortion is murder. period. and a country witout murder is a great country.

Why not go farther - no need for the thought of abortion, all the social ills that lead to that debate are gone. Now THAT would be an interesting country, perhaps a bit to ‘warm and fuzzy’ for most politicians…but I couldn’t resist adding this concept.
